Summary: The Landscape Development Project Leader is responsible for overseeing all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects. Along with being responsible for providing top quality installation work for the company’s clients while achieving their production goals.

Position Summary: This position does the production work with the Design/Build team. This person is expected to be able to work hard, work well with others and have fun. This position is a combination of working with the project manger for site prep, working with the teams on installs and operating machinery as necessary. An ideal candidate would have experience working with small-medium excavators and skid steers, knowledge of the proper way to do complete landscape installations from rough grading to irrigation, hardscape, and plant installations.

Key Responsibilities, Job Duties & Performance Deliverables:

  • Prepare the truck with equipment and materials in the morning.

  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 2 to 3 employees.

  • Perform the Peola Experience of delivering top-quality professional work on all jobs.

  • You own your jobsite- including dealing with client care and team member needs

  • Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape constructions

  • Participate in recruitment activities by conducting secondary interviews with potential job candidates

  • Operate various tools and equipment, including: heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.

  • Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis

  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities

  • Meet with subcontractors and supervise quality, efficiency, and deadlines

  • Perform quality work with no call backs.

  • Perform assigned production within budgeted labor hours.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including the work site, trucks, shop, and equipment.

  • Complete electronic reporting, paperwork, notes and forms accurately daily.

  • Training of crew members as necessary.

  • Actively participate in company-wide meetings, suggesting improvements

  • Complete all duties safely with no accidents.

  • Ensure crews safety in the workplace.

  • Report any accidents and/or near misses as per Peola Safety Policy.

  • Perform other types of work during off-peak seasons, i.e. yearly maintenance.

  • Grow your skills and knowledge of the company and the industry.

  • Unloading the truck, equipment and materials at night.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Valid driver’s license, no points, Class A, CDL Required with manual endorsement, valid and current FMSCA medical card.

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Landscape Industry Certified Technician preferred but not required.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry

  • Experience operating small/medium excavators, loaders, skid loaders.

  • Able to operate saws, jumping jacks, plate compactors safely.

  • High school graduate or college degree preferred but not required.

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in varying outdoor weather conditions.

  • Ability to follow directions.

  • Clear knowledge of the Peola Experience.

  • Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner

  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Time management skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices.

  • Speak, read, and write English.

  • Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting.

Compensation:

  • Pay starting at $20/Hr., pay based on experience and ability.
